Fire

Fire may be the most fun part of being outdoors. It provides warmth, light, entertainment, and can cook your food. Fire is also dangerous, so safety and proper use are important. Like most things, being good at fire building takes practice. People who spend a lot of time camping are good around the fire, people who don't, aren't. In developing good fire skills, you should:

  1. Have a solid understanding of fire safety
  2. Know campfire basics
    1. Different materials and where to use them
    2. How to light a fire
    3. Different fire shapes

  4. Be able to use coals for cooking
  5. Know how to put a fire out and leave no trace
