about Troop 7

The earliest references to scouting in Idaho occur around 1914, when a number of Troops were organized.  The First Baptist Church organized Troop 7 under the direction of Ora E. Strawn, and in 1919 leaders in Boise formed a Scoutmaster’s Association and named Ora E. Strawn from Troop 7, as its president.  Troop 7 is part of the Scouts BSA Ore-Ida Council - Oregon Trail District and our Charter Organization is Capitol City VFW Post 63.

Scouting is for boys and girls who are 11 through 18th birthday (or are at least 10 years old and have completed the fifth grade or have earned the Cub Scout Arrow of Light Award).  Scouts experience a vigorous outdoor program and peer group leadership with the counsel of an adult Scoutmaster to achieve the BSA's objectives of developing character, citizenship, and personal fitness.  Camping, fun with friends -- and more.  It’s the adventure of a lifetime.

Troop 7 operates two troops: 7B for boys and 7G for girls.  Each troop has separate scoutmasters and patrols and meet separately, however, the two troops will do some combined activities together.

Our scouting year is from January 1 to December 31, however, a scout can join anytime.  Give your child a valuable gift by encouraging to join Scouting today.  The time you invest today will make a difference in the person they become tomorrow.

Meetings are held 7:00 PM every Tuesday
